Fred Blackman calls Westfield, PA, his hometown; he attended Cowanesque Valley High School. Fred married his wife Kim (Stubbs) in 1979. Their family includes daughter Aggie (John Secrest) and sons Kyle (Megan) and Kaleb (Wendy) plus several grandchildren. Fred and Kim have been at EREFC since 2002.
His favorite Scripture is the first one he memorized, John 15:5, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” He says that this verse “always reminds me that without Jesus I can do nothing.”
Fred has worked as an equipment operator, environmental manager, and small business owner. His entrepreneurial skills started during his teen years as he tapped maple trees to make maple syrup, maple crème, and maple sugar. He marketed his products to relatives, friends, and neighbors. The best syrup year produced 55 gallons of the sweet stuff!
During his free time you may find Fred hunting, fishing with good friends, water or snow skiing, swimming, riding motorcycles, reading good books, or, occasionally, getting to enjoy a long nap.
